A construction worker has been hospitalised after part of a stationary crane got loose and fell on him, the police said.

The accident took place at a construction site in Ħaż-Żabbar in Triq ix-Xgħajra at around 10.45am on Thursday.

The worker, a man aged 32 from Marsascala, has been hospitalised with serious injuries.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
