A post uploaded this morning by former Labour MP Reno Calleja has drawn condemnation on the social media and from the Nationalist Party, itself the target of Calleja’s jibe.

After reading about new funeral arrangements being made as from today as part of the relaxation of measures related to the Coronavirus, Calleja said that the time has come now to bury the Nationalist Party.

He said the words on the tombstone should read: “The PN lies buried here. Do not describe it as Fascist. The last leader was Delia. And it had long been in agony”.

Calleja was berated by people who commented beneath his post, and the PN also issued a statement.

The PN said the remarks were derogatory not only to a large section of the population that support the party, but it was also insensitive towards people who have lost a loved one and are preparing burial services.

Calleja should immediately issue an apology, the PN said.
