46 people are in distress in Malta's Search and Rescue Zone, a tweet by Alarm Phone read.
"They just reached out to Alarm Phone. They escaped Libya yesterday and are now ~50nm from Lampedusa. They need urgent help," the NGO tweeted.
This morning, the Maltese government commissioned another tourist boat, and the migration NGO Alarm Phone had reported that there was a vessel (a different one carrying 80 people) at sea within Malta's Search and Rescue (SAR) zone.
Captain Morgan ships have been housing rescued migrants, and it has been reported that three ships already have 350 onboard.
