There are no plans to have a restaurant or a bar on a pier being reconstructed in Balluta Bay, Capital Projects Minister Ian Borg said.
Borg was replying to a parliamentary question submitted by PN MP Robert Arrigo.
Arrigo asked the Minister about the work being carried out to rebuild a pier beneath the Balluta parish church and its effect on the colour of the sea. In addition, he also asked whether Borg can give a reply as to whether anyone will be given a permit to have an outlet built on the pier.
With reference to the colour of the sea Borg stated that it is ‘worth noting that if there are strong sea currents, in a few minutes it will change from a bluish colour to grey because the seabed is turned upside down.’
He added that since the “works are being carried out along the shore it is inevitable that fine materials will end up in the water.” Infrastructure Malta is carrying out the project with the cooperation of environment authorities who are monitoring the project.
