Timothy Alden has been elected leader of the Partit Demokratiku, ending a long process the party has undergone to establish a new leadership team following the resignation of Godfrey Farrugia and Marlene Farrugia.
Both MPs were for a time party leaders until they publicly announced that they will remain in Parliament but no longer represent the PD. They had been elected as part of the PD-PN coalition in the 2017 election.
Yesterday evening in Valletta, Partit Demokratiku held its AGM and elected its new Executive Committee. The new Executive has reaffirmed that Partit Demokratiku remains a movement for all those in this country who seek truth, justice and a sense of well-being for all. Our doors remain open to those of good will, the party said in a statement.
The new Executive Committee consists of the following:
Leader - Timothy Alden
Deputy Leader - Raymond Azzopardi
General Secretary - Mark Zerafa
Public Relations Officer - Marcus Lauri
Treasurer - Carmel Asciak
Executive Members - Melissa J. Bagley, Matthew Mizzi, Martina Caruana
