The investment and equipment are a result of an agreement between the Malta Industrial Parks and the Department of Civil Protection.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri highlighted that such a collaboration between the ministry and different entities makes a huge difference in people’s lives. “In today’s reality, the industrial zones have grown to such an extent that the needs of such industries have also increased,” said Camilleri. “Therefore, the Civil Protection Department must also adapt.”

He pointed out that the CPD has contributed in many ways, especially when it comes to training, as they train individuals about fire drills, more awareness of responsibilities, and how to carry out inspections on the ground.

Economy Minister Silvio Schembri said the collaboration between the two entities will strengthen security and protection in an industrial aspect. “We are entering a new phase in the history of this industry. We have an ambitious project of more than €400 million which will change the face of many industrial areas as we know them today.”
