A woman has died in a fire that engulfed her home in St Julian’s this morning, the police said.

The accident took place in Agostino Savelli Street at 5am.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called to control the blaze together with police and the Special Intervention Unit.

With the fire under control, the police found the body of the woman, aged 68.

Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo is leading an inquiry.
