A 40 year old woman was grievously injured in a traffic accident in Santa Lucija on Monday morning.

The woman, who is from Rahal Gdid, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital after a car accident.

The accident took place at 7:30am on Monday when a car and motorbike collided in Triq Dawret it-Torri.

Police were informed that assistance was needed and were on the scene immediately.

There the police noted that the accident occurred after a Kia Sportage, which was being driven by a 37 year old man from Hal Tarxien crashed into a Piaggo motorbike, which was being ridden by the woman.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital via ambulance and she was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

 Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
