Covid-19: Workers, employers confused by conflicting messages - UHM

Monday, 3 August 2020, 19:01 Last update: about 5 years ago

Workers and employers are confused on what measures they should be taking in light of conflicting messages by the authorities, UHM-Voice of the Workers said.

The union has asked the Prime Minister for a meeting to convey the messages being sent by its members.

It said workers are confused on the direction they should take when the health authorities are telling them to keep safe while all prevention measures have been withdrawn.

Shop owners who took all steps to ensure their customers’ safety are also pointing out that some outlets have different measures, of none at all.

The union said front liners, including health personnel and Border Control Officers are also in limbo and the Coronavirus situation is placing them under continuous stress. The situation is getting out of control and they feel that the sacrifices they have made might have been futile.

The union said it is asking for a meeting with the Prime Minister so that these issues are clarified, and a clear direction is given.

We should avoid an increase in active cases, it said, adding that the possibility that the situation gets out of control is very real.
