Transport Malta have reminded that the wearing of face masks on public transport remains mandatory.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday morning, Transport Malta said that enforcement officers will be carrying out spot-checks on buses to make sure that this regulation is being followed by passengers.
It is not specified what the penalties are if one is caught without a mask.
The measure has been in place for a number of months, however it has been observed by people commenting on social media that it was always not necessarily followed.
The measure was announced on 1 May when restrictive measures related to the virus started to be relaxed.
Face masks are mandatory on all types of public transport, not just buses. They remain mandatory on the Gozo Channel ferry as well, with the company reminding passengers of this some weeks ago.
Just over a week ago, a Gozo Channel chief officer was beaten up by a group of men after he ordered them to wear masks on the boat.
