Three men were arrested by police in two separate drug trafficking operations, police said on Wednesday.

One of the men – a 24-year-old from Marsaxlokk – was arrested on Tuesday evening when the police stopped his vehicle, which they had been following for a while, in Fgura with information that the driver was in possession of drugs which, allegedly, was to be trafficked.

Police searched the vehicle and found over 20 sachets of substances alleged to be cocaine and cannabis, along with an amount of money.

The man will be taken to court this afternoon before Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo.

As luck would have it, while this search was on going, police noticed that in the same road there was a vehicle with two men inside it acting suspiciously.

As a result, the police approached the men and after a search of the vehicle was carried out, a number of packets of what is alleged to be cannabis was found.

The two men – a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old – were arrested and are being kept at the police lock-up in Floriana.

More investigations about this case are on-going.
