The four children who tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours were not attending any schools, The Malta Independent is informed.

The children were part of the 20 new cases announced by health authorities on Thursday, which took the number of active cases of the virus up to 267.

They are aged 11, 10, 8, and 4 years, health authorities told this newsroom after the cases were announced.  This newsroom is informed that three of them are the siblings of a person who is related to the Santa Venera village feast cluster and were already in quarantine, while the fourth is a relative of another known case.

The same health authorities also told this newsroom that none of the children were attending any schools.

The government’s summer school programme Skola Sajf is still on going, and has had brushes with the virus in recent weeks – although its spread has been restricted besides that.

Two educators at the Skola Sajf school in Luqa tested positive for the virus a week or so ago, while two students who attended the Dingli Skola Sajf school also tested positive some weeks prior.

Reports of students or educators who tested positive at the Qormi Skola Sajf school and the Pieta Skola Sajf school, which emerged from a Whatsapp group which claims to provide exclusive information about the pandemic in Malta, were slammed as untrue by authorities.
