Friday, 7 August 2020, 19:18 Last update: about 5 years ago

Captain Clifford Chetcuti has tendered his resignation from his role as Air Malta CEO.

In a statement, the Economy Ministry said that Chetcuti had stepped down for personal reasons.

Chetcuti was appointed to the post in 2018, and Economy Minister Silvio Schembri thanked him for his “sterling work in the strengthening of the airline” since then.

He commended Captain Chetcuti for his resilience and personal commitment in leading the company through such challenging times.

“Despite the fact that the government of Malta has full confidence in Captain Chetcuti, his decision is being respected”, the statement read.

Captain Chetcuti will be supporting the company until Air Malta appoints a new CEO. He has also kindly offered his unconditional support to the national airline at no remuneration, the statement ended.
