A ‘different format’ is being considered for the annual Joseph Calleja concert which was meant to take place on 4 September.

The concert – a staple fixture on Malta’s musical calendar – was to take place on the Floriana Granaries, with the famous Maltese tenor taking the stage with Italian star Zucchero for the concert.

However in a statement on Friday, the concert’s organisers NnG promotions announced that “they are considering a different format for the Joseph Calleja Concert scheduled for this year with Special guest Zucchero.”

More information will be communicated next week, the organisers said.

The announcement comes after the government announced further restrictions on mass events, with indoor events being capped at 100 people and outdoor events being capped at 300 people, both depending on the venue’s capacity.
