The Għaqda tal-Mużika San Gejtanu and Soċjetà Mużikali San Ġużepp have agreed to donate an equal part of the money they usually spend for their feasts to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi.

Although this year was a very tough financial one for both Societies, as it was for all band Organisations, the Unions feel that they should do their part on the day of the feast of San Gejtnu, the saint of Providence,” they expressed in a joint statement on their Facebook page.

While the two
clubs subscribe to the principle that the most beautiful charity should be made in silence, they feel that with this small gesture they could encourage other musical band clubs that would like them to celebrate their feast, even if perhaps in a reduced way.

Notably, due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, all feasts were cancelled after having been allowed once the pandemic in Malta started to calm down.

“Due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, everything had to be cancelled, and the clubs believe that they should go through a small donation from what they would spend usually spend on their feasts and encouraged all other institutions to do the same.”

The musical band clubs praised all Ħamrun citizens for the support they showed towards them during the past few days while wishing everyone a good feast.
