Wednesday, 12 August 2020, 18:34 Last update: about 5 years ago

The Labour Party has launched a new consultation process called ‘100 ideas’ to shape Malta’s future.

This project has taken the form of 10 Policy Forums with the aim of creating discussion and driving change in the different sectors that concern them.

The fora will be coordinated by Deputy Leader for Labour Party Affairs Daniel Micallef, Labour Party President Ramona Attard and Labour MEP Miriam Dalli.

At a news conference at the National Labour Centre in Hamrun, Daniel Micallef announced the project, exactly in the year in which the Labour Party is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

“The 10 policy forums within this project are expected to cover all areas that affect our country and the lives of the Maltese and Gozitan people”, Micallef said.

MEP Miriam Dalli spoke about the three fora that she will coordinate, covering the economic, environmental and health fields.

These include ‘Distribution of Wealth’, ‘the Environment as a Common Heritage’ and ‘Our Health.’

Dalli remarked that, “the basis of the policy we will work on is sustainability in order to ensure a better quality of life for Maltese and Gozitans.”

“I am convinced that these three policy forums, although distinct, will work hand in hand to ensure a better quality of life, a healthy environment and a resilient economy,” she said.

Ramona Attard spoke about the four forums she will be coordinating.

These four forums include: ‘Malta’s role in the Mediterranean, in Europe and the world’, ‘Equality’, ‘The Future of our Children’, and ‘The Democratic Framework of Malta.’

Micallef also spoke about the three forums he will be coordinating. These include ‘A Society where everyone moves forward’, ‘Gozo,’ and Stronger Local Councils.’

Micalled remarked that ‘through this, the Labour Party has started a wide public consultation and our goal is to complete this project by the end of this year.’
