26 new cases of Covid-19 were found overnight, health authorities said on Tuesday in their daily update on the situation pertaining to the virus.
The number of recoveries meanwhile continued to exceed the number of new cases, with 53 new recoveries being registered in the past 24 hours.
The number of active cases therefore has decreased to 444.
1,916 swab tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests done so far up to 192,509.
Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated, but gave details about the number of cases reported on Monday.
21 cases were reported on Monday – out of which 14 were sporadic, four were family members of previously known cases, two were contacts from social gatherings, and one was a work colleague of a positive case.
The total number of cases of Covid-19 that Malta has had so far now stands at 1,909. 1,453 of those have recovered, while 12 have died.
