A 40-year-old man has been arrested by police over a hold-up which took place in Qormi three days ago, police said on Saturday.

The hold-up was reported on Wednesday afternoon at a lotto booth in Triq San Edwardu in Qormi.  There, police had found that the booth’s employee – a 31-year-old woman from Kirkop – was assaulted by the robber, who had a pointed weapon in hand.

The man stole some money and escaped from the scene.  The woman who worked at the lotto booth was not injured.

On Saturday police said that after joint work between Qormi district police and the Major Crimes Unit, a man was apprehended in connection with the hold-up on Friday night.

The man lives in Qormi, and is currently being held in police lock-up in Floriana while investigations continue.
