President encourages people to give what they can in Malta Community Chest Fund fundraiser on Sunday

President of Malta George Vella encouraged people to make a small sacrifice and give what they can during tomorrow’s fundraising marathon in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Speaking after touring the premises where the fundraiser will be broadcasted from on Sunday, President Vella thanked all those who had taken part and come together in order to organise the marathon in such a short time.

“Of course, my appeal - to add to my wife’s appeals in her interviews - regards the need, and almost the duty, that each one of us makes that small sacrifice and gives what they can give, always with the aim that the money [goes] to anyone who may need it from today onwards, together with those who are already benefiting from the services offered by the Malta Community Chest Fund”, the President said.

“As has been said many times, if we do not put money in the coffers, we will have nothing to hand out, and the costs are too big…. we do understand that the income of workers, companies, and everyone else is limited, but I still believe that one must keep in mind that COVID should not eliminate the need for us to contribute to this fund, because the fund will continue to help.”

“And as long as we do not have contributions, we’ll have nothing to distribute and, unfortunately, we will then have to start looking for other funds because treatments can’t be stopped, and neither can the help given by the Malta Community Chest Fund be stopped”, he concluded.

The marathon will run from tomorrow from midday to midnight and will be broadcasted on TVM, One TV, NET TV, F-Living, and Smash TV.
