Gozitan arrested over Gzira hit and run

A Gozitan man was arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with a hit and run which happened in Gzira and left a 47-year-old woman in hospital.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at around 1:15pm in Triq Rue D’Argens in Gzira.

There, district police found that the woman had been hit and dragged along the road by a vehicle which then kept on going.

The woman was taken to hospital where she was found to be suffering from serious injuries.

In a statement on Wednesday, police said that they had arrested a 61-year-old man from Nadur, Gozo in connection with the hit and run.

The man is the owner of an Ottawa YT30 which was identified as being the vehicle involved in the incident.

The vehicle was found in Gozo, as was the man, who the police said was its driver.

Investigations are ongoing.
