111 new cases of Covid-19 found overnight; 53 new recoveries

111 new cases of Covid-19 were found overnight along with 53 new recoveries of the virus, health authorities said in their daily note on Thursday.

It means that there are currently a total of 1,704 active cases of the virus in Malta.

2,951 swab tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of swab tests up to 308,790.

Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated, but gave details about the cases reported on Wednesday.

Out of the 155 reported on Wednesday, 14 were family members of previously known cases, 13 were direct contacts with other positive cases, 10 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 2 were imported, and 1 was from a social gathering.

Malta has now had 5,137 cases of the virus.  3,384 of those have recovered, and 49 have died, with the last two deaths being reported on Thursday morning.
