This is a board which provides advice to international health organisations such as the World Health Organisation and the United Nations.

The Health Ministry said in a statement that the group will be focusing its efforts on how countries can protect their population from antimicrobial resistance, which could lead to the spread of disease that is resistant to existing treatment.

The group is made up of 26 prime ministers, ministers and health professionals.

Speaking about the appointment, Fearne said that he is honoured that Malta will have a voice in this prestigious group.  He thanked the international scientific community for their faith in him.
