A woman was grievously injured after being hit by a car, which had also hit a motorcyclist and several parked cars, police said in a statement.

Police said that a constable on patrol in Triq Sant’ Antnin was told at around 7:05pm that a car had hit a 28-year-old Pakistani motorcyclist.

The driver of the car, which was a Peugeot 108, left the site after speaking to the Pakistani.  The policeman called an ambulance to assist the man.

Around 10 minutes later, the same officials were informed of another incident in Triq il-Qaliet.  On site, police noted that a number of parked cars had been hit, including the same Peugeot.

Upon further investigation, it results that the driver of the Peugeot, having hit the parked cars, had reversed and hit the woman, who was walking on a passageway.

The woman, a 38-year-old from Marsaskala, went to the health centre, and was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

The driver, a 49-year-old man, was not injured and is being questioned by police while investigations continued.
