116 new cases of Covid-19 found overnight, 124 recover

116 new cases of Covid-19 were found in Malta, health authorities reported on Wednesday in the latest update on the pandemic figures.

124 people meanwhile have recovered, meaning that the number of active cases has decreased to 2,069.

3,030 swab tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of swab tests up to 413,011.

Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated but gave details about the cases reported on Tuesday.

Out of the 133 reported on Tuesday: 25 were family members of previously known cases, 5 were direct contacts with other positive cases, 4 were work colleagues of positive cases, and 3 were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

Malta has had 9,253 cases in total.  7,062 have recovered, while 122 have died.
