Total number of Covid-19 cases hits 10,000 as 126 more people test positive

126 new cases of Covid-19 were registered on Wednesday, meaning that the total number of virus cases that the country has had since the pandemic first reached the island has jumped to over 10,000 (10,101 in total).

The health authorities, in their daily update, said that 139 people recovered from the virus. The total number of active cases now stands at 2,068. This means that the total number of people who have recovered since the start of the pandemic stands at 7,887, while 146 people have died.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 2,686 swab tests were carried out/

While the cases announced on Wednesday are still being investigated, the authorities provided information about the cases reported on Tuesday. "20 cases were family members of previously known cases, 11 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 6 were from direct contact with other positive cases, 7 were from social gatherings and one was imported.
