Caruana Galizia family action for damages hearing put off pending Theuma’s summons notification

Thursday, 3 December 2020, 19:48 Last update: about 4 years ago

The hearing regarding an action for damages filed by the Caruana Galizia family against five men accused of their involvement in her murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia was put off as Melvin Theuma was not yet served with a notice of summons, the Times of Malta reports.

Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated on 16 October 2017.

Three men - Alfred Degiorgio, George Degiorgio, and Vince Muscat - where arrested in December that year and have been charged with carrying out the assassination.

Businessman Yorgen Fenech was arrested in November 2019 and is accused of masterminding the murder.  Theuma was given a presidential pardon to tell all, and was allegedly the middleman.

When the case was called, the judge was told that Theuma had not yet been served with the summons as his address was not known.

Theuma's address has been kept secret since the incident last July in what was deemed a suicide attempt.

The court authorised the service of notification by publication or posting. The case was adjourned pending Theuma's notification, the news report read.
