Children between the ages of two and 18 are being offered a nasal spray against influenza which will replace the traditional injection starting from Monday.
The spray will be available from Monday to 4 January from all health centres across Malta and Gozo.
A total of 25,000 of these sprays will be available, with this being the first time that such a spray is being used in Malta.
The time period for the administration of these sprays has been purposely chosen to be around the Christmas holiday period so that as many children as possible can go for it and be immune for influenza when they return to school.
The spray is not being recommended for those who are allergic to eggs, and for those who suffer from immunosuppressive conditions.
Health Centres are open as per the below hours:
Mosta, Paola, Floriana, Kirkop, Gżira u Victoria, Gozo: From Monday to Saturday between 10am and 7pm and on Sunday between 8am and 7pm.
Birkirkara, Rabat (Malta), Qormi, Cospicua: From Monday to Friday between 10am and 7pm, on Saturday between 10am and 12pm, and on Sunday between 8am and 7pm.
The influenza vaccine for adults will remain available at all health centres.
