Government schools are opening this morning in spite of a two-day strike ordered by the Malta Union of Teachers.
The government said it is following the guidelines of the health authorities.
In a meeting on Wednesday, it was explained to the Malta Union of Teachers that the health and education authorities were working hand in hand.
By ordering the strike, the MUT was going against the advice of the health authorities, the government said.
Church and independent schools will remain physically closed today, with lessons taking place online.
