In a Facebook post on Monday morning, in the week marking a year from his swearing in as Prime Minister, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that he was honest throughout the year, like his own government was.

Prime Minister Robert Abela was sworn in on the 13th of January after a leadership election, after former PM Joseph Muscat resigned amidst Malta’s biggest political crisis which saw him and his government face a wide number of serious allegations of corruption.

“This week we will mark a year from when I was gifted this privilege to serve you as the Prime Minister of our country. This first year was one full of challenges, but I am and will stay positive and optimistic,” Abela said.

“I was honest, like the government I lead was, and that’s the way we will stay. This was a decisive year, where we took a number of crucial decisions,” Abela remarked, where after almost 2 months of his tenure the first Covid-19 case was registered in Malta.

“As we stayed strong and were vigilant, the decisions we took will help us to move forward.”

“This week I will spend it close to you; in the communities where you live and work. Above all, I will see that as long as you have faith in me serving, I will be with you. With me, you know where you stand,” Abela said.
