Nadur carnival cancelled over Covid-19 concerns

Tuesday, 12 January 2021, 14:47 Last update: about 4 years ago

The traditional Nadur carnival will not take place this year, the locality’s council said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the local council said that it will not be holding any events and that it will not issue any permits for any activities.

They said that rumours that there would be activities in the locality over carnival weekend were baseless.

They warned that no one should use the spontaneity traditionally associated with the Nadur Carnival as an excuse to meet or congregate in the locality, and added that the police will be there to make sure that no law or health directive is breached.

In its statement, the council said that this is no time to organize mass activities, and noted that this is not the first activity they have been forced to cancel in the past year – however, they said, health comes first.
