A consultant who used his wife’s car to attend to duties at Mater Dei Hospital expressed anger after the vehicle was clamped.
Writing on Facebook, Patrick Sammut, Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and Allergy, said he went to the hospital with his wife’s car which does not have permit for hospital parking.
“But I did leave my phone number so I can be contacted. Still got clamped,” he wrote.
What is worse is that when he complained about it, “they were intransigent and refused to unlock” the vehicle.
“I feel this is unfair and no private company should be allowed to make profit from service providers.
“I am refusing to pay on principle. I think the company should be flexible enough to deal with these circumstances in a fair way.
“I will stay by my car until it is released,” he wrote.
A few hours later, the doctor said that the clamps had been removed without him paying the fine.
