90% of people aged 85-89 have taken the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to statistics published in Parliament by Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne.

Answering a Parliamentary Question posed by PN MP Maria Deguara, Feane said that 68% of this age group have taken the second dose.

As for those aged 90+, 85% took the first dose and 62% took the second dose.

As for those aged between 80 and 84, he said that over 10,000 invites were sent thus far to people in this age group, offering them the vaccine, and 65% have taken the first dose.

In answer to a separate question, also posed by Deguara, Fearne said that discussions on how private sector doctors can support the Covid-19 vaccine rollout are taking place.

Currently, private GPs are not administering the vaccine in their private practice.

Malta has administered 64,419 of the vaccine so far.  20,531 people have received both doses of the vaccine.
