Two were seriously injured in a traffic accident which happened in Zejtun on Sunday evening, police said on Monday.

The accident took place at Triq Bir id-Deheb at around 6pm.

Preliminary investigations showed that there was a crash between a Honda motorcycle and a Suzuki Swift.  A 25-year-old Italian man who lives in San Gwann and a 23-year-old woman who lives in Gharghur were on the motorcycle at the time and were both seriously injured. 

A 27-year-old Italian who lives in Luqa meanwhile was driving the car.

The two victims were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Duty Magistrate Joe Mifsud has opened an inquiry while police investigations continue.
