Church publishes list of Covid directives: funerals and weddings with limited attendance allowed

Thursday, 11 March 2021, 20:03 Last update: about 4 years ago

The Archdiocese has published directives that come into place today, until 11 April.

It said that churches can open for public worship, but they are not allowed to open for mass or other religious activities. Only funerals and weddings (in Church only - Receptions are banned as per Wednesday's announcement) with a restricted number of people, while adhering to social distancing measures as well as all other measures will be allowed.

The number of people who can attend depends on the size of the church, but cannot be more than 100.

Regarding Baptisms, the Church urges parents for these to take place after 11 April. If it needs to happen before this date, then only the sacrament of Baptisms will take place without a mass and a small number of people will be able to take place.

Holy communion for sick people at home will only take place in cases where the patient is in critical condition.

Parochial offices will only offer essential services, preferably by appointment.
