An Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) patrol boat ended up grounded in Birzebbuga, only minutes after it took to the water after maintenance was carried out on it, this newsroom is informed.
Onlookers at Birzebbuga told this newsroom of how AFM patrol boat P-23 was winched into the water after undergoing some maintenance work on Thursday morning, only to then ground to a halt minutes later.
The patrol boat – which is one of the AFM’s smaller vessels – had grounded itself in the shallow waters in the bay.
The vessel was later towed out of its predicament by a barge which was passing through the same bay.
When asked about the incident by this newsroom, an AFM spokesperson said that she had no information about it up until then.
