‘Does he consider it moral to attack the victims?’ Strickland Foundation asks of Sant

Thursday, 8 April 2021, 18:56 Last update: about 4 years ago

Judge Giovanni Bonello, Chairman of the Strickland Foundation, has referred to the article entitled "Was this Moral - Alfred Sant replies to The Strickland Foundation" published online on The Malta Independent website on Wednesday 7 April 2021, and issued a reply.

"Dr Alfred Sant, in his reply, failed to distinguish between The Strickland Foundation as the majority shareholder of Allied Group and the Board of Directors of Allied Group. The investigation referred to by Dr Alfred Sant in his reply, was carried out by an independent Commission appointed by the Allied Group's Board of Directors and not by The Strickland Foundation as erroneously stated by Dr Alfred Sant."

"The then council members of The Strickland Foundation were in no way involved in the appointment of this commission, were not involved in the working of this commission and were not even privy to the report drawn up by the Commission. Therefore, the assertion that The Strickland Foundation investigated the "whole episode" and "failed to alert the police" is fundamentally flawed and baseless."

"Dr Alfred Sant seems to be concerned about the morality of the situation. We could not agree more. The Strickland Foundation asks him to consider who, in the circumstances are the alleged culprits and who are the victims. Does he consider it moral to attack the victims rather than the delinquents?"
