Tuesday, 13 April 2021, 18:37 Last update: about 4 years ago

The government will finance the costs to transport the body of Lassane Cisse back to the Ivory Coast, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri revealed while answering a Parliamentary Question.

While responding to PN MP Mario Galia, Camilleri said that the government committed to paying for the body of the victim to be transported back to his home as well as the mortuary costs. The government will also pay the travel and accommodation expenses for a representative of the family that will accompany the cadaver from Malta.

He said that the government gave such assurances back in 2020, but no response has been received as to when the cadaver will be transported.

Lassane Cisse Souleymane was killed back in 2019 after being shot in the head in Malta.

Two men stand accused of his murder.
