Four youngsters were injured in a traffic accident on Saturday afternoon, police said on Sunday morning.

The accident took place at Triq Wied iz-Zurrieq in Qrendi between an Isuzu TFS pick-up and a Mazda Demio.

The Mazda was being driven by a 20-year-old from Qormi, and also had three 17-year-old passengers – all from Qormi – as well.

All four of those in the Mazda were given first aid by a medical team and by members of the Civil Protection Department and were then all taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

One of the passengers was certified as suffering from grievous injuries, while the two others suffered light injuries.  The condition of the driver of the Mazda is still not known.

The man driving the Isuzu – a 67-year-old from Birkirkara – was uninjured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
