Eight suspected of stealing some 900 air conditioners held by police

Eight people have been arrested as the police solved a case involved the theft of some 900 air conditioner units.

Police said on Monday that the theft happened from a warehouse in the Handaq industrial estate in the limits of Qormi.

A total of some 900 air conditioners were stolen from the warehouse over a period of nine months, with the company realising of the missing units on 16 December last year.

The value of the stolen goods is of around 300,000, police said.

Investigations successfully identified eight men, aged between 35 and 59 years old, as suspects of being involved in the case.

Searches at residences, garages, and other warehouses resulted in the recovery of around 800 of the stolen units, which have now been returned to the company.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
