Former Opposition Leader Adrian Delia has urged his supporters to stay home for tonight’s Nationalist Party Executive meeting, which is being called following a Facebook spat between himself and PN MP Jason Azzopardi.

Delia, who published a Facebook post hours before the meeting – which is tonight at 7pm – expressed his gratitude to his supporters who have been calling and sending messages his way after he publically responded to a Facebook post published by Jason Azzopardi last Tuesday.

“For all those who want to show their support through their presence tonight, I appeal to you to follow the unfolding of events from the peace of your home”, Delia posted on Thursday.

He said that for the good of the party, a serious and honest discussion should take place in the tranquillity of the PN’s headquarters.

“I believe that whoever has the good of the party at heart will make wise decisions”, he continued.

“I still believe that the truth will come to the water’s surface. I still believe that whoever is right will win in the end”, he concluded.

Last Tuesday, Azzopardi uploaded a post related to a libel suit he won this week.

The case had been filed against Vincent Borg, known as ‘Censu l’Iswed’, a former canvasser of Delia, who had claimed that Azzopardi had made use of a ‘working girl’ at a hotel.

Azzopardi said that he has officially forgiven Borg, adding that he knew he had been “used, deceived and manipulated.”

Delia retaliated to Azzopardi’s post by challenging him (Azzopardi) to sue him (Delia), as well as challenging Azzopardi to publish the 700 messages he supposedly has on the former party leader’s alleged links him to Yorgen Fenech, the man considered to be the mastermind behind the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

In a short statement, the PN said that after certain Facebook posts that went against regulations issued by the party, the PN Executive Committee will be convening to discuss the way forward.

The meeting will take place on Thursday evening at 7PM.
