Children’s book on Daphne Caruana Galizia’s life republished for distribution in USA

Wednesday, 19 May 2021, 11:00 Last update: about 4 years ago

A children’s book chronicling the life of Daphne Caruana Galizia has been picked up by an American publishing house, meaning that the book will be republished and distributed in the United States.

Announcing the news on Twitter, the book’s author and illustrator Gattaldo said that his book ‘Fearless: The story of Daphne Caruana Galizia, Defender of Free Speech’ will be available in the USA from September 2021.

This is after it was picked up and republished by Candlewick Press, one of the fastest-growing children’s book publishers in the US.

The picture book was published in October 2020, three years after Caruana Galizia was assassinated in a car bombing close to her home in Bidnija, and was also endorsed by Amnesty International and Reporters Without Frontiers.

A total of seven people are facing court proceedings accused of being involved in her death.  One of them is a middleman who received a presidential pardon to tell all, and another is prominent businessman Yorgen Fenech – accused of masterminding the murder.

The book’s author Gattaldo was a close friend of Caruana Galizia and he also runs a website called www.fearlessdaphne.com for “aspiring little journalists, their teachers, and parents.”
