‘Double standards’: Cutajar says Repubblika remained silent when PN MP donated food to NGO

Suspended Parliamentary Secretary Rosianne Cutajar has called out Repubblika’s “double standards,” saying the NGO remained silent when PN MP Jason Azzopardi donated food to a women’s charity located in his district.

Last week, the civil society NGO called for a police investigation after Cutajar gifted bags of oranges to people at an elderly home in Qormi, part of her electoral district.

Speaking during adjournment time on Tuesday, Cutajar said Repubblika had acted differently when Azzopardi – who is closely associated with the NGO - posted photos of his donation – in fact it said nothing.

“He gave them pasta, sweets and also oranges, although his was processed. I am not against what he did. But if what I did is wrong, so is what Jason Azzopardi did.”

Azzopardi told Lovin Malta that what he did was different because the people receiving the food would not know where it came from.

Cutajar quipped that it now seems that MPs need permission from Repubblika “to be close to our constituents.”

She said Azzopardi was part of a PN clique that had ousted Adrian Delia. “I would not be surprised if they do the same to the current PN leader. They are already aware that the chances of winning with Bernard Grech at the helm are very low. They are desperate for power and cannot come to terms with the fact that they lost ten elections in a row.”

She went on to say how the PN had neglected the country and how the PL had carried out many infrastructural projects. “Before, you had to travel to see a flyover. Now there are more than you can count on two hands.”
