After Speaker’s ruling, Cutajar asks Parliamentary Committee Chairman to call urgent meeting on FATF

PN Whip Robert Cutajar has written to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Economic and Financial Affairs Committee requesting that an urgent meeting be called to place a discussion about the FATF report greylisting Malta on the agenda.

This came after PN Whip Robert Cutajar had requested a ruling by the Speaker of the House Anglu Farrugia, after the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee Jean Claude Micallef originally refused a request by the PN MP to call an urgent committee meeting after Malta was greylisted to discuss and analyse the report.

The Speaker ruled that the agenda of the committee remains the competence of the whole committee to decide (not just the chairman), as long as the material falls under the committee's remit.

Following the ruling, Cutajar wrote to Micallef, asking him to call an urgent meeting of the committee.

"This, so that the "agenda, in its totality and with regard to every item on it, remain the competence of the whole committee."Cutajar said that the FATF report falls under the competence of the committee.
