The 27-year-old Briton who died in Malta last week after finding himself in difficulty while swimming was a “a warm hearted person who loved life”, friends have said.
Chris Dodd, from Runcorn, was reported to have “encountered difficulties” in a pool at Triq it-Trunċiera, St Paul's Bay at around 7.45pm on Thursday.
The Liverpool Echo reports that a fundraising appeal was launched in a bid to help his family afford the repatriation and funeral costs, with the estimated total running potentially to in excess of £10,000.
Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
