‘Darkness and heat’ is the government’s energy policy, PN says

The past few days have seen power cuts in a number of localities, the PN said, criticising the Labour government’s handling of the situation.

“At a time when families needed stable electricity provision, the government gave them darkness and heat.”

The reason for this, the PN said, is “what was meant to be the PL’s roadmap concentrated on Electrogas and the carless distribution of electricity in homes.”

The PN criticised the PL for “denying us a reduction in energy bills as we cannot purchase power from the interconnector every time it costs less.”

The PN said that it is also pointless to have energy provision if one then does not have adequate infrastructure. “Our country saw a population increase over the past years, that brought an increase in accommodation without any attention given to infrastructure. The failure of Labour’s policy is today clear.”

The PN noted that this occurred at a time when tourism isn’t as strong as it normally is, asking what would have happened if it was.
