A Briton was seriously injured in a fight in Sliema on Friday morning, the police said.

The incident took place in the Tigne area at around 5am.

The Briton, aged 21, was involved in a fight with another man who escaped from the scene.

The Briton suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Astrid May Grima is leading an inquiry.
