Wednesday could be the hottest day so far this summer, as the temperature is set to rise to 42 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office had initially set the forecast at 41 degrees (see below), but later changed it to 42 degrees.

The feel like temperature is 43 degrees.

So far, the hottest day this summer was recorded on 24 June, 40.2 degrees, which incidentally was the hottest June day recorded in the last 100 years, beating the maximum of 40.1°C recorded on 13 June, 1997.

Malta is experiencing yet another heat wave this summer, which is turning out to be one of the hottest ever.

People are urged to stay away from the sun as much as possible, especially at peak hours.

The temperature is set to be a more manageable 35 degrees on Thursday, going down further to 32 on Friday.
