An 84-year-old man has passed away while positive for Covid-19, health authorities announced in their daily briefing on the pandemic.
27 new cases were reported by health authorities, while 79 people have now recovered, taking the number of active cases in the country down to 643.
25 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, three more than the number on Thursday. Four patients remain in intensive care – an unchanged amount to Thursday.
Meanwhile, up until Thursday 810,125 doses of the vaccine had been administered, with 4,477 of those being booster doses.
The government announced on Thursday that the booster dose rollout for those living in elderly homes had been concluded.
Malta has had 36,927 cases of the virus so far. 35,435 of those have recovered, while 453 have died.
