The National Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disability (2021-2030) was launched with the theme 'liberty to live'.

The main aim of the strategy is to provide a directional plan for the sector for the coming years until 2030, the year identified for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the government said in a statement.

The government said that the strategy consists of 13 objectives, each one of which has 63 different actions. The actions are tied to a time schedule for their implementation.

Inclusion Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said that this document does not only represent the social compass, but provides clear direction in terms "of what foundations we want for each citizen to build on. Through the presentation of this strategy, we are implementing another electoral pledge for persons with disability."  She referred to the public consultation process that led to the creation of the strategy, saying that the government listened to the opinions of stakeholders fro various entities.
