Three arrested as police seize €600,000 worth of cocaine

Two men and a woman have been arrested by the police over the weekend in connection with €600,000 worth of cocaine that was seized.

The police said that five kilogrammes of the drug were discovered.

The first arrest took place on Saturday, when a Spanish 20-year-old woman was arrested at Malra International Airport on her arrival on a flight from Madrid. She was found in possession of cocaine.

A man from Venezuela, aged 30, was later also arrested soon after his arrival on another flight from Spain. The police followed him to an apartment in Msida where he was arrested,

Investigations continued in a hotel in St Julian’s on Sunday, when a 38-year-old Spanish man became the third person to be arrested.

Magistrate Elaine Mercieca is leading an inquiry.

The three will be charged in court before Magistrate Noel Bartolo on Monday morning.
